Automotive Services, Parts and Design

Automotive service is the series of procedures for maintenance which are carried out at a set time interval or after the vehicle has travelled a certain distance. The service intervals are specified by the vehicle manufacturer in the schedule of service and in some modern automotive display’s, the due date for the next service is provided on electronic instrument panel.

On the completion of service, it is mostly recorded in the service book which is rubber stamped by service centre upon the completion of every service. Basically, the complete service history adds to the resale value of the vehicle.

The automotive parts mostly for automotives use internal combustion engines that are manufactured components of automobiles. Like windows and trim are included in Body of automotive. Others parts are like Bonnet/hood, hood latch, Unexposed bumper, Exposed bumper, Fascia rear and support, Front clip, Fender (wing or mudguard), Grille (also called grill), Bumper, Cowl screen, lid for deck, Front fascia and header panel, Pillar and hard trim, Spoilers (air dam “front spoiler”, wing ”Rear spoiler”, Quarter panel, Roof rack, Rims like: Hubcap, Tyre, Radiator core support, Trim package, rocker, Trunk/boot, Trunk/boot latch, Valance, Welded assembly and many more.

The profession which is involved in development of the look /appearance, and some extent of the ergonomics, of motor vehicles / automotives and more particularly road vehicles is known as automotive design. This mostly refers to the automobiles but also refers to vehicles like motorcycles, trucks, buses, coaches, and vans.

The functional design and development of the modern automotive / motor vehicle is basically done by a large team from many different disciplines included within automotive engineering. This design is primarily focused on /concerned with developing the visual appearance or aesthetics of the vehicle, though it is also involved in the creation of the product concepts. Automotive design is practiced by the designers having an art background and/ or degree in industrial design or / transportation design.

The basic task of design team is to split into three main parts (needed for completion of the project) -> exterior design, interior design, and color and designing trim. Graphic design is a very important aspect of the automotive design and this is commonly shared among the design teams according to the site of lead designer. Design not only focuses on the isolated outer shape of automobile parts, but also concentrates on combination of the form as well as functions of automotives.
